Background

Let's start with my childhood: I was born in Texas to a single mother. When I was 3 years old, our family moved to Los Angeles, California. Those were some rough times, because we grew up in poverty and lived in gang-related neighborhoods. A few words to describe me as a kid were shy, quiet, smart, and creative.

We moved back to our hometown in Amarillo, Texas when I was 11 years old. I ended up graduating from Palo Duro High School (go Dons!) then graduating from Amarillo College followed by West Texas A&M University.

How my relationship with God came about: You can say that I grew up in church all my life, but I didn't establish a true relationship with the Lord until I started going to college. Just when I was starting to get a little taste of what some young adults call freedom and adulthood (partying, clubbing, etc.), I felt God pulling on my heart and I fell in love with Him. I changed my view of Him as a hard taskmaster to a loving Father. The background was a place that I was fine and comfortable with. However, He kept putting me front and center. I know life with going through the religious motions and I know life with having a true intimate relationship with Jesus. To be honest, the former is trash and the latter is so much better, satisfying, and fulfilling.

Life now: Through all the challenges and setbacks that I have faced, I have been transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit. I am becoming whole in Christ as I write this. I am moving forward with the things that God has put on my heart to do. My past does not define me nor does my mistakes. My identity is in being a daughter of God. I am here to encourage people. I am here to bring insight to His Word. If God can change my life around, He surely can do it for you too! May my gifts be used to bring God glory.

Some Things I Enjoy

Appreciation for the Small Things

Singing, but it will definitely be off-key, drinking tea, exercising, music, journaling, making smoothies, dancing, walking at parks and out in the sun, acting goofy with my husband and kids, and going on new adventures.

Current Work

Published on Christmas Day, is my second book, The Little Dancer in My Belly. It is a collection of poems for mothers around the world reassuring them that their little babies are gifts from the Lord plus giving them laughter as some pregnancy symptoms that suck are talked about in a sarcastic yet honest way.
